Job Description:

Our client, a fast-growing fintech company, is hiring their first dedicated Payroll Manager. This is a foundational, individual-contributor role: you take full ownership of payroll company-wide, standardize the process, and build the function as the company scales into new countries. You report to the Head of Finance and work daily with Legal, HR, and Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for the Latvia entity, plus oversight of outsourced payroll in the UK and Poland
  • Own the B2B/contractor payment cycle globally, including crypto (USDT) settlement, as a distinct process from employee payroll
  • Ensure payroll compliance with Latvian labor law, tax withholding, and social security obligations
  • Review and quality-check payroll calculations prepared by the outsourced UK and Poland providers
  • Partner with Legal and HR on employment terms, cross-border considerations, and worker classification (employee vs. B2B contractor)
  • Partner with Finance on payroll cost accounting, accruals, and reconciliation to the general ledger
  • Own the payroll system(s)/HRIS: selection, implementation, and administration
  • Administer benefits tied to payroll (medical insurance, L&D budget, etc.)
  • Own payroll data privacy and security in line with GDPR
  • Ensure accurate, on-time payroll runs every cycle, no exceptions

What We Expect

Must-have:

  • Proven payroll management experience, ideally across more than one country
  • Experience with both direct employee payroll and B2B/contractor payment structures
  • Comfortable managing and reviewing the work of outsourced payroll providers
  • Fluent in English and Latvian
  • High ownership and autonomy: this is an individual-contributor role from day one

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in fintech, crypto, or another fast-growing company
  • Experience with UK and/or Polish payroll
  • Russian language
  • Familiarity with payroll/EOR platforms (e.g., Deel, Remote, Rippling)

What's in it for you:

  • A founding opportunity: build the payroll function from the ground up and own it end-to-end, across jurisdictions, as the company scales
  • Salary: €2,500 gross/month, performance-based bonus
  • Medical insurance, L&D budget, English classes, regular team-building activities
  • A fast-paced, self-funded fintech company with no investor-driven pressure

Interview Process:
