Job Description:
About the Role:
This is a pivotal position as the first dedicated in-house Accountant for our client's Polish entity. With their accounting previously managed by an external provider, you will be responsible for bringing this critical function entirely in-house and taking full end-to-end ownership of the general ledger.
You also own the accounting for the wind-down of the entity's licensed crypto activity, which ceased mid-2026: splitting the period, designing the cost-allocation methodology from scratch, and producing documentation that has survived an external audit. No direct reports. You report to the Director of Finance at the group level and work across Treasury, Legal, Compliance, and Tax.
What You'll Be Doing:
Own the monthly close: accruals, provisions, and journal entry
documentation plus remediation of the FY2024, FY2025, and H1 2026
periods- Prepare statutory financial statements (P&L / RZiS, balance sheet, cash flow) and keep the GL reconciled to bank accounts and subledgers
- Handle multi-currency revaluation (PLN, EUR, GBP, USD) and consolidation adjustments, including intercompany eliminations
- File monthly JPK-V7 to KAS, issue invoices via KSeF, prepare annual CIT returns with transfer pricing documentation, and report to GUS
- Design and defend the cost-allocation methodology for the wind-down period, and set up the intercompany invoicing protocol with group entities
- Run AP/AR, expense reconciliation, and fixed asset and depreciation schedules
- Build the control framework: approval hierarchies, segregation of duties, and documentation standards
- Lead knowledge transfer and data validation from the outgoing provider
Coordinate the statutory audit and prepare the supporting schedules
What You Bring:
- 4–6 years in accounting, including 2+ years of in-house GL ownership -not purely outsourced or tax-prep work
- 2+ years running month-end close independently, including accrual accounting, provisions, and deferred revenue
Fluent Polish (written and spoken) and English B2+
- Hands-on application of Polish accounting law (Ustawa o Rachunkowości), with practical experience in JPK-V7 / VAT compliance and CIT filing (including transfer pricing documentation)
- Direct experience validating or remediating outsourced records as part of an in-house transition
- Experience designing or executing intercompany cost-allocation methodologies
Multi-entity consolidation experience
IFRS knowledge, or Polish statutory accounting with IFRS exposure
- Multi-currency accounting experience: FX revaluation, gains, and losses
- Fintech, crypto, or regulated finance background -familiarity with digital asset accounting concepts or licensing frameworks (VASP, CASP, PI, or EMI)
- Hands-on experience with accounting/ERP systems, including GL configuration and chart of accounts design
- Strong reconciliation discipline (GL-to-bank, GL-to-subledger) and adocumentation-first mindset
- Builder mentality -comfortable creating structure where none exists, calm under regulatory deadline pressure, and at ease working independently on ambiguous, investigative problems
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Nice to Have:
Biegły Rewident, or ACCA/CPA with Polish accounting experience
Statutory audit experience from the preparer's side
System-level KSeF integration experience

Salary: PLN 12,000-14,000+ gross/month, plus a 13th-month bonus
